Q: What do I need to do before I’m accepted?

  1. First, come to the place where you believe God wants you to come with us.
  2. Visit the RMNI site and ask any questions of the Director or of others who havegone.
  3. Study the “Trip Essentials” paper for very important information about the trip.
  4. Read the RMNi “Operational Statement of Beliefs” to be sure that we are in agreement.
  5. Complete the “Trip Application” and return it to the Director.
  6. A reply will be given. Upon acceptance a letter is sent that can be used to raise funds for your mission.

Q: What do I do once I am accepted?

  1. We suggest that you copy the acceptance letter and the one-page “Trip Overview” and give them to those you know who might be interested in having a part in your ministry. Most receive partial or full funding from their local church, and copies could be given to the appropriate church leaders, including, of course, your pastor. Do what you are comfortable doing, but state the amount required by RMNi for the trip. Please note that the full amount of the trip is due at the RMNIi office 36 days in advance of our departure so that tickets can be purchased and funds sent to prepare for our ministry in-country. Send a $500 deposit for your ticket upon acceptance. If you must cancel, RMNi will refund what is refunded to it.
  2. Obtain a passport (forms at the post office) http://travel.state.gov/passport/forms/forms_847.html as needed. Allow 2 months for processing. A visa can be purchased upon arrival. Send a good copy of your passport photo page to the Director and keep other copies for yourself and family, in case of need.
  3. Have the “Waiver of Liability Release Form” notarized and returned to the Director.
  4. Schedule an appointment with your local health department foreign immunization nurse a minimum of 1 month in advance of departure.
  5. Come faithfully to the Team meetings held before departure. This is very important for Team unity. Those out-of-town must attend one.
  6. Consult the Travel Manual and Quick Gear Checklist (at the website)for other trip specifics.
  7. Read Ministering Crossculturally, by Lingenfelter and Mayers (ISBN: 0801056322, available from Amazon.com) and complete the “Model of Basic Values” personal profile.
  8. Ask your church and friends to begin to pray that the Lord will fully prepare you and Indians for this ministry and that the Lord will use the trip to advance His Kingdom, forHis greater glory. Pray for the other Team members regularly and recruit prayerwarriors.
  9. Please note the weight limits for bags (70 lbs.) and raise funds needed to ship any bags beyond two large ones (approximately $200 @ bag for British Air),since RMNi is not able to cover that cost.
  10. Consider inviting others to come to India with us.
  11. If you don’t have internet access, please try to obtain it, since it greatly helps communication before departure.
  12. Prepare your teaching/preaching materials and study spiritual gifting, if you're unsure of yours.
