  • “Greetings in the name of Jesus. Hope you are fine, to us likewise. I want to thank God who brought you in Kenya at Bushiri. We were blessed so much through the wonderful ministry God has given you. Plus your team. May God bless you so much. We are praying for you, and your ministry for success. Greet for me those wonderful great men and women of God.”

"Why go on a short-term..."
  • Why go on a short-term missions trip?
27
"African Americans must engage global..."
  • African Americans must engage global Christian missions. There may be only about 400 African American missionaries, from 37 million African Americans.  Africans wonder where We are.
28
Missions will change
your life
  • You’ll see how God has blessed you.
  • Your faith will almost certainly grow
  • You’ll make new friends
  • You’ll experience racial unity
  • God may reveal new ministry plans for you
  • Our church will be impacted by your ministry.
29
Missions will change
your life
  • You’ll understand our own culture and church far better.
  • God may use you to assist hurting people in other nations.
  • You may catch on fire for God and His global Kingdom.
  • Our church will have new opportunity for global Kingdom work.
30
"Jesus told us to go..."
  • Jesus told us to go into ALL the WORLD making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). If we cannot go personally, we can support by prayers and dollars those who do go, both short-term and career missionaries.
31
"God told all Christians to..."
  • God told all Christians to go, not  only whites, or Koreans or Pentecostals.
  • God is an equal opportunity employer, and the black community needs to take affirmative action.
  • Can we trust God to meet the needs of our own community, as we obey Him to go to the ends of the earth?
32

33
The Unfinished Task:
  • As of 2000 there were 145,000,000 untargeted people—nothing is spent upon reaching them.   Another 276 million are “uncontacted”1.
34
Why Engage Global Missions?
  • In the New Testament the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10).  We are now His “feet” to reach the lost, wherever they are (Rom. 10:14-15).
  • Christians are now mediators (priests) between God and unbelievers (Rom. 15:16).
35
What Is Left to Do?
  • While 72% of the world is adequately  evangelized, 1,800,228,000 are left.
  • With population growth, 2,034,713,000 will need to be evangelized by 2025 (26%). David Barrett, Todd Johnson and Peter F. Crossing, “Status of Global Mission, 2005, in Context of 20th and 21st Centuries,” International Bulletin of Missionary Research, Jan. 2005, p. 29.
  • Currently, about 87,000 are evangelized per day. (From the World Christian Encyclopedia, David Barrett, George Kurian, Todd Johnson, Eds. 2001, ISBN:0195079639, p. 2: 538.)
  • How many are YOU evangelizing?
36
The Unfinished Task:
  • 34.3 million die without Christ annually- 13.2 million of them were never evangelized.  65% of those who die annually aren’t Christians1.
